A couple weeks ago i was slicing a bagel when my left thumb *got in the way*! After keeping my thumb under the water for what seemed like forever, I wrapped it up in a paper towel and proceeded to call my mom....you are NEVER to old to call your MOM :) I explained what I had done and asked if I should go to the Emergency room or not. To be on the safe side, she told me to GO! Oh, and by the way....she told me that she thinks I am allergic to something in the Tetnus shot. But then, she can't remember if it was me or Mike...but to be on the safe side, let's just say it was me :)
So, before I head out, I checked online to see if Urgent Care was still open. I had 15 minutes to get there...so, I raced down the stairs and out to my car, jumped in and off I went. When I pulled into the parking lot, I noticed that there weren't any other cars...it was either gonna be my lucky night, or else i was going to have to head over to the Emergency room at Mission, which I knew would be a nightmare. When I walked up to the door, it was still open - thank goodness! I was the ONLY person in the waiting room and they got me in right away.
The nurse looked at it and decided to get everything ready to stitch it up, just in case. I asked about "gluing" it back together and thank goodness the Doctor did just that.
Why do I tell this story again? NO, I did not cut my thumb again...I have a new toy:
Stacey gave me this *slick* little bagel cutter. I must say, it is the {KING DADDY} of bagel cutters. There is no way that I can stick any of my fingers inthere and cut them now!
I highly recommend that you pick one of these babies up if you are a bagel eater. OH, and by the way....there are these new bagels out there - Alternative Bagels. Tons of fiber, really tasty and the great thing: 1 point! Yes, Weight Watchers 1 point bagels...they are made by Western Bagel Company and they are *yummy*!!
So yes, I am still eating bagels and my fingers are safe...life is GREAT :)
